Jarvey — The Voice Agent for your Mac

1. Overview

Jarvey is an open-source, locally-run desktop agent developed by Novyn Labs. This policy explains what data Jarvey accesses, where it goes, and what we do and do not control.

2. Data Processed Locally

Jarvey stores the following data exclusively on your local machine:

• Application settings and configuration preferences
• Durable memory records you create or that Jarvey creates with your approval
• Local debug logs

This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.

3. Data Sent to Third Parties

To function, Jarvey sends certain data to OpenAI via its API:

• Voice audio and transcripts during active voice sessions
• Screenshots of your screen when computer-use features are active
• Conversation context, instructions, and tool outputs needed for model inference

This data is transmitted to OpenAI and is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy and data usage terms, not ours. We have no control over how OpenAI processes, retains, or uses this data.

4. Computer-Use Agent Capabilities

Jarvey is a computer-use agent (CUA). When active, it can take screenshots of your screen, control your mouse and keyboard, execute shell commands, read and write files, and interact with applications on your behalf. Sensitive information visible on your screen or accessible on your filesystem may be captured and sent to a third-party AI provider during a session.

You are solely responsible for what is visible on your screen and accessible on your machine when Jarvey's agent capabilities are active.

5. No Analytics or Telemetry

Jarvey does not include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any other form of data collection by Novyn Labs. We do not operate servers that receive your data.

6. Your API Key

Your OpenAI API key is stored locally on your machine and is sent only to OpenAI's API endpoints for authentication. We never receive or have access to your API key.

7. macOS Permissions

Jarvey requests Microphone, Screen Recording, and Accessibility permissions from macOS. These permissions are managed by the operating system and can be revoked at any time via System Settings.

8. Children

Jarvey is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18.

9. Disclaimer of Liability

Novyn Labs provides Jarvey as open-source software on an "as is" basis. We assume no responsibility or liability for any data exposure, privacy breach, unintended action, or damage arising from the use of Jarvey or any computer-use agent built on similar technology. Computer-use agents are inherently capable of taking actions with real consequences on your system. By using Jarvey, you accept full responsibility for any outcomes.

10. Changes

We may update this policy at any time. Changes take effect when posted. Continued use of Jarvey constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

2. Nature of the Software

Jarvey is an open-source computer-use agent (CUA) for macOS. It is capable of:

• Listening to and transcribing your voice via microphone
• Taking screenshots of your screen
• Controlling your mouse, keyboard, and system input
• Executing arbitrary shell commands and scripts
• Reading and writing files on your filesystem
• Sending data to third-party AI services for processing

These capabilities carry inherent and significant risks. Actions taken by Jarvey may be difficult or impossible to reverse.

3. User Responsibility

You are solely and entirely responsible for all actions Jarvey takes on your behalf. This includes, without limitation:

• Commands it executes on your system
• Files it reads, creates, modifies, or deletes
• Data it captures from your screen or microphone
• Data it transmits to third-party services
• Interactions it performs with applications on your computer
• Any consequences, damages, or losses resulting from the above

Jarvey includes an approval mechanism for certain sensitive actions. However, this mechanism is provided as a convenience and is not a guarantee of safety.

JARVEY IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Novyn Labs makes no warranties regarding the reliability, accuracy, safety, completeness, or suitability of Jarvey for any purpose.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, NOVYN LABS, ITS CONTRIBUTORS, AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF JARVEY. This includes, without limitation, damages for:

• Loss of data, files, or system integrity
• Unintended disclosure of private or sensitive information
• Financial loss resulting from unintended agent actions
• System damage, corruption, or compromise
• Any action taken by the AI model during a computer-use session

6. Third-Party Services

Jarvey relies on third-party AI services (currently OpenAI) for model inference. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms and policies. Novyn Labs is not responsible for the behavior, availability, or data practices of any third-party service.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Novyn Labs and its contributors from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of Jarvey or any violation of these Terms.

8. Assumption of Risk

You expressly acknowledge and accept that:

• Computer-use agents are an emerging and inherently unpredictable technology
• AI models can and do produce incorrect, unexpected, or harmful outputs
• Granting an AI agent control of your mouse, keyboard, screen, and shell creates substantial risk
• No approval mechanism, permission gate, or safety layer can fully prevent unintended actions
• You assume all risk associated with using Jarvey

9. Permitted Use

You agree to use Jarvey only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

10. Changes

Novyn Labs reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Updated terms take effect upon posting. Your continued use of Jarvey constitutes acceptance.
